The Eden Project

|
Is probably one of
the best known attractions in the
St Austell bay area. Many of our guests
visit Cornwall specifically to visit
Eden. Whether for a horticultural
interest, to see a favourite band/performer,
to headline at one of the excellent
Eden sessions, an engineering interest
or just on a general visit you're
going to like Eden. The Eden project
comes highly recommended whatever
age you are.

Heligan Gardens

|
Another extremely popular venue for
visitors and locals alike. Heligan
has a wonderful story to tell of how
the garden was created over the years
then left to be reclaimed by the wild
after most of its gardeners were sadly
lost in battle during the Great War.
Now brought back to
life having been sympathetically restored
Heligan has become a must see garden
showing individual areas of great
diversity. Wildlife projects have
also been set up which add another
element to this fascinating, architectural
and educational garden whose first
pineapple of the year goes straight
to Buckingham palace.

Pine Lodge gardens

|
Pine Lodge Gardens
are another beautiful local garden
in St Austell. Very much over shadowed
now by both Heligan and Eden, it is
a garden that hides its light under
a bushel
...so to speak
..sorry
will try harder next time! Boasting
a wonderful seat made out of camomile.

Lanhydrock House

|
Our favourite of all
Cornwall's country houses now run
by the National Trust. Lanhydrock
house boasts an incredibly well equipped
kitchen, games rooms and servants
quarters' along with all of the other
magnificently furnished rooms and
bed chambers. This house will take
you back to a time when a lady acted
like one (in public at least!!) and
gentlemen often got away with roguish
behaviour as long as they wore the
right tie.

Caerhays Castle

|
Caerhays Castle is
not too far from us and opens up its
gardens on specific days of the year
and they have now started to open
up the house on occasional days throughout
the summer months. I have yet to visit
the house but I enjoyed the gardens
and will be visiting the house as
soon as I can.
