Ocean Sports

A water ferry runs from Mevagissey to Fowey during the summer months and this is a great way to sea our beautiful coast and visit Fowey. You might see Dolphins, Basking Sharks or the Royal Navy on manoeuvres. We highly recommend this trip.

The local water sport shop 'Ocean Sports' is a well equipped shop and offers all you need to enjoy some fun on the. Some of the things they offer are:

Paddle clinics - teaching how to get the most out of your Kayaking (kayaks can be hired).
Try a Dive - short diving experience in the safety of a swimming pool.

Snorkel Safari - guiding people around some of our best local snorkel spots.As well as retailing equipment Ocean Sports also hire a wide range of water sport equipment from wet suites, body boards, kayaks, diving gear etc.

Sailing

Pentewan also has a Sailing School which operates from the beach. You don't need any experience as they offer pleasure trips around the bay along with sailing parties and instruction courses.

Many national and some times international competitions are hosted by the Pentewan Sailing club and they are always an interesting spectacle.

For those wishing to travel the waves with a little more speed we have 'The Power Boat Academy' run by champion power boat racer Richard Strawford.

Gig Racing

Cornish Pilot Gig rowing takes place around Cornwall from March - October on most weekends. One of the larger events is hosted by the Mevagissey rowing club and takes place on Pentewan beach during June. Anyone lucky enough to be here for this event will have the chance to witness a pageant of colour and history as teams from all over the south west battle it out on the water in this traditional Cornish sport that is rapidly spreading up country.
